Outdoor Fall Engagement Photos
I’ve been blogging a lot of my favorite weddings lately, but I thought sharing these gorgeous outdoor fall engagement photos with Amanda and Mike deserved a spotlight moment.
Outdoor Fall Engagement Photos
For their engagement photos, we decided to go to this gorgeous outdoor woodsy area that I love taking my couples too. It’s the perfect location because it’s secluded but is able to give us some amazing light! Throughout the entire session, Amanda and Mike were absolute models in front of the camera. Amanda wore this gorgeous blue floral dress while Mike kept it classic with a button up and khakis.
Pro tip: If you’re having trouble on picking out what to wear to your engagement session, your best bet is NEUTRALS! They go with everything and can save you a lot of time (and worry) trying to pick out what to wear. Just remember this - coordinating NOT matching.
With how natural Amanda and Mike moved in front of the camera, you would think that they do this all the time! However prep also plays a huge role in how your photos turn out, so let me give you a bit of advice when it comes to preparing for your engagement photos.
How to Prep for your Engagement Session
Decide what to wear: Remember to choose comfort over anything. The last thing that you want is to choose clothing that you would never wear just for your engagement photos and feel/look uncomfortable. You want to feel just as confident as you look, so choosing clothes that still feels like YOU is so important.
Choose the right location: Choosing the right location can be one of the hardest decisions that you may face. Ask your photographer if they recommend any locations/spots and figure out what “vibe” you’re looking for. Beachy, woodsy, more urban or city like - you name it! Keep in mind that your location also plays a role in what you wear as well!
Decide if you want props: Props can be an amazing way to add some spice to your photos and help all of you who are constantly wondering “what do I do with my hands?”. Amanda for example, brought along her custom made denim jacket with “Mrs. Urso” engraved in the back. She was able to use that as a great prop and it helps tremendously while posing!
Be prepared for anything: Preparing for the worst is the best piece of advice I could give you! Make sure you are prepared for anything that may get thrown at you during your engagement session. Bring along a small tote bag that you can have some of these helpful supplies in:
-
Water (especially during the warmer months)
-
Comfortable Shoes
-
Umbrella
-
Hair kit (with hairbrush, hair ties, hair spray, etc)
-
Snacks (you may be getting hungry halfway through, you never know LOL)
How to not be awkward in photos: Now the thought of getting your photos professionally taken may make you SUPER nervous. I’m here to tell you - THAT’S NORMAL! The most important thing to remember is to have fun and have a photographer who you trust. Your photographer should make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and help you feel more relaxed throughout your entire session.
Some helpful notes:
-
Don’t overthink your session - Your partner is right there by your side, so look to them if you’re starting to feel any bit of nerves.
-
Don’t take it too serious & don’t forget to laugh - The whole point of your engagement session is to have it feel like YOU! Be goofy, silly, whisper funny things in each others ears and be yourselves! Trust me, this can translate into your photos and really feel like you!
Remember that this is supposed to be an exciting time in your life! You and your partner just hit this huge milestone, so you should be taking this time to celebrate. Don’t let the fear and nerves prevent you from taking this moment head on and enjoying every bit of it. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed once you see those amazing photos of you two *wink*.
